How Magnetite Works

For a window to be noise reducing and energy efficient two main areas needs to be addressed: The entire window system needs to be airtight, without any gaps or leakages and material suitable for noise and heat reduction has to be used for glazing and framing. Proven highly successful in Canada, the US and Australia, Magnetite allows existing windows to be easily converted to a double glazed system without the need to replace the existing windows. 70% noise reduction and increase in thermal efficiency through the window is achievable while maintaining the exterior look of the windows and your windows can of course still be opened.

The system contains two parts. A slim subframe equipped with steel tape  is installed in front of your existing window to which a lightweight acrylic panel is magnetically attached.

The continuous magnetic seal ensures that when the Magnetite panels are in place, the double glazed window insulation system has the lowest air infiltration rate of any operational window. This seal creates an air cavity between the existing window and your Magnetite panels. As with traditional double glazing the air cavity acts as an insulation barrier against noise and temperature. Depending on the configuration of the existing window, we can adjust the size of the air cavity to maximize thermal insulation, acoustic insulation or both. The Magnetite sub-frame is foam PVC and acts as thermal break between the existing window and the Magnetite secondary system. This sub-frame also allows Magnetite to attach to any existing window frame – timber, aluminium or steel.
The acrylic glazing panels used by Magnetite are up to six times more thermally efficient than glass and much lighter. The Magnetite panels are custom made and can fit all types of windows. The installation process is mess free, very quick and has minimal impact on the occupied space.
