How Magnetite Reduces Heat Transmission

While windows are a wonderful source of natural light, in a tropical country like Singapore the year-round sunshine can mean uncomfortably high temperatures inside a room. With daily air-conditioning common, the energy cost of running aircon in a room with leaky, single glazed windows can get expensive and is a burden to the environment.

Double glazing your existing windows, adding a thermal break to stop outside heat transferring in and sealing up of all air leakages will transform the comfort of a space. For anyone who is conscious of energy consumption, making sure that their windows keep out as much thermal heat gain as possible is essential.

With Magnetite we upgrade your existing standard window to perform like a high-end thermally efficient window without the need for hacking. Our Magnetite Heat Shield can be installed in situations where a window change is either not wanted or not permitted, like in many condos, BTOs and commercial units.

Magnetite reduces heat transmission through:

1. Thermally efficient UPVC and acrylic material

2. Sealing up of gaps and leaks with total magnetic seal

3. Thermal break double glazing effect

To increase the thermal efficiency of your window we need to stop the heat coming in from outside and prevent the cool air inside from escaping through the window. This will make your home more comfortable and reduce your air-conditioning costs. The physical airflow through gaps and leaks has to be sealed up which we achieve with our full magnetic seal. The ideal window for a tropical climate will have a low SHGC to limit the heat from the sun’s direct rays, as well as a low U-Value to prevent the heat in the air outside from moving through the window and warming the cool conditioned air inside.

It is better to have a shading film or tint on the first (outer) glass pane to limit the heat that enters the double glazed unit and to block UV rays. Most windows in Singapore are already tinted or are fitted with a solar film over which Magnetite can be installed. While the shading on the first glass pane is important to stop direct sun rays this tint often absorbs heat and becomes part of the problem by turning your window into a radiator. This radiating heat is stopped by our acrylic glazing which is 6x more thermally efficient as glass. Standard aluminium framing will conduct heat straight through from the outside to the inside and will often be hot to the touch. With installing our PVC framing on the room side of your window we create a thermal break, stopping the heat transfer.

With installing Magnetite you can make your windows perform better for you and the environment.
